Feeling Overwhelmed and Don’t Know Why?

Feeling Overwhelmed Sucks!  I’ve been there many a times and can totally relate to anyone who’s feeling that right now.

Here’s what I’ve learned from a recent Jack Canfield call on how to handle being overwhelmed as well as a great definition for what it means.

Overwhelmed:

Is having lots of options without criteria for sorting them out.

You need to have guidelines and prioritize your options basing them on your passions, interests committments, etc.

How to get out of overwhelmedness.

Grab some 3×5 cards and write everything you have committed to / goals – one per card.

Next, take two of them and compare which is more important than the other and sort accordingly. Do this with the next on down the list until you have them in order of importance.

Take into consideration the time, money and resources each one will take.  Which ones are most exciting to you. Which are most important for you to accomplish and so on.

Start with one of the goals and decide 3 things of action you can do over the next week.  If it involves something you have no idea how to go about doing, find someone who has already done what you want to do and contact them to see if they will help you in some way – you might be surprised at how often people will help.

How many goals are too many?

It differs from one person to the next. Some people are good at multitasking and delegating or are just natural over achievers.

If you are still feeling overwhelmed by the number of things you want to accomplish in a given period of time then you are probably over doing it for yourself.

It also could be that you have too many SHOULD DO goals rather than WANT TO goals.

A good habit to have is writing down things the night before of what you are going to do the next day.  This allows your subconscious to work on it during sleep and the law of attraction puts it out into the universe to help manifest your goals.

Instead of having a standard TO DO list, add the times WHEN you are going to do each thing. By putting everything in a time frame, you can reassess realistic expectations and reprioritize.

For example, say you have 5 things you want to get accomplished tomorrow. Put them in order of importance. Instead of working in a REACTIVE state, work from INTENTION and CREATION.

Using visualization is key here.  Visualize having the life and BELIEVE you can have it.  Some people find a vision board or book to help focus their intentions and mindset on what they want to be  do and have.

Figure out what you have to give up till you make the transition – maybe TV, movies, dinners out, some sleep.  IT takes a high level of commitment to get what you want – you have to really want it.  And remember, it’s not forever, just until you make it.

How Do You Want To Be Remembered? Leaving A Legacy

I’m a fan of Jack Canfield.  His books like  [Success Principles] may seem a bit fluffy to some, but there’s a wealth of wisdom to be discovered.

On a recent call with Alex Mandossian hosting (as usual), Jack went over some good topics to start the new year off right.

Seems lately that I’ve been hearing the phrase, LIFE IS SHORT, quite a bit.  We’ve all been saying it feels like time is speeding up each year – which may very well be the case if you believe the frequency of the earth has been increasing from 7.8Hz to 13Hz by 2012.

Nevertheless, Jack posed the question, How Do You Want To Be Remembered?  What legacy do you wish to leave for future generations?

Do you want to change and enrich people’s lives?  Do you want to know that because what you did, you enriched another’s life?

Food for thought.  As my subtitle of my blog states, design your life.  Think of how many free days you are going to have instead of how many hours a week or day you plan on working. Self employed entrepreneurs know what I mean.  We don’t have a set schedule like you do in a job.

Yes, I know, thinking of how much time you AREN’T going to work may sound counterproductive and lazy, but really, it’s working smart.

In order to create more free days, you need to avoid burn out while increasing productivity.  Here’s a few ideas that will help:

Meet others outside your field – people can give you new insights, ways of thinking and you’ll be exposed to new opportunities.

Set your goals in an environment away from your home. Why? Because we tend to be habituated in our way of thinking when we are in our usual environment.

We are less likely to think outside the cube.  Did someone say vacation? Seriously, think about how many times you’ve been on a vacation and came back with a whole new perspective on things?  I bet it’s happened more than once or twice.

Basic Guidelines To Being Successful Online

How to Avoid Failing Miserably At Making Money Online

When you have been putting in the hours and still haven’t experienced success online in the form of money coming in and a growing opt-in LIST, then you need to ask yourself if you’re truly being productive or  just being busy.

Although this advice seems like common sense, there are just too many distractions and time wasters vying for your valuable time and attention.

You Must FOCUS your time on the things that are PROFITABLE.

For example, do not spend large amounts of time investing in learning a new skill that you can easily pay someone else a minimal fee to do for you.

If you do, you are being penny wise and pound foolish and I dare say may have control issues needing to be addressed.

An example of this would be spending time to learn graphic design and web design.

This is a very time consuming skill to learn.

There are plenty of skilled people available to supply you with what you need for a nominal fee.

Ask yourself, what is my time worth?

How many hours will I spend to learn this skill to the point of proficiency that can match the quality I would get from paying someone else to do it for me?

Here’s some examples of Money Making Activities:

  • Networking: i.e. Twitter, Facebook, forums
  • Lead Generation
  • Copywriting
  • Pay Per Click Marketing
  • Driving Traffic
  • Talking to Leads, learning how to close on the phone
  • Making new contacts and Building Releationships

In order to be successful, you must weed out all the distractions that suck your energy and your time.

You have to create an environment where you can hyper focus on all of hte things that matter the most and create the results you are after.

Blogging Smart – Automating Your Posts Using Time Delay

I like to think I’m kind of smart.  Other people even tell me so – and not just my parents. ;-P

Yet, like an absent minded professor, the obvious and simplistic doesn’t always cross my mind.

Take for instance the ability to time delay blog posts.

WHAT??

Best thing since sliced bread I tell say!

Here I just ASSUME – yup, making an ass of myself – that when I blog, my post goes up when I hit the PUBLISH button.

I didn’t realize before last week  that I can set the date and time I want it to be published. On WordPress, this is accomplished by clicking the edit link by the “Publish Immediately” line where a menu drops down letting you select the day and time you want it to show up. Sweeeet!

Experienced bloggers are saying DUH! right now and wondering why on earth they’re bothering to read my blog when I seem so clueless about the most basic tricks, lol.  I know I have too many things running thru my mind when it takes this long to find out about such a simple thing.

I’m not embarrassed to admit it. This is a big A-Ha for me. Maybe a lightbulb just turned on for you too.  Now you see the true power of this fully operational battlesta- What I mean to say is now I understand how to leverage my time with blogging.

I can take a few hours and preload several posts to be published on a regular basis like say, one a day for the next week.

Take this post.  I’m writing it on Oct 9th, 2009 at 11:11 pm – I know what you’re thinking – and yet I’m going to have it publish Saturday morning bright and early at 7:07 am.  Hey, remember I don’t work normal hours – I’m my own BOSS.

Woo hoo! Now I can take that trip to Tahiti without feeling guilty about not blogging while I’m away having fun in the sun because my blog will continue to be updated on a regular basis with quality funny, inspiring LIFE CHANGING posts.  Yup, piling it on pretty thinck there, aren’t I?

To think, I don’t have to take the laptop with me  – although you and me both know that’s not gonna happen. Well, maybe I’ll just bring my Jesus phone. (heard that was a nik 4 the iPhone)
